VoteBoard: passwordless sign-in with SMS OTP only
In one of VoteBoard’s modules, we removed password-based sign-in and switched to authentication via a one-time code sent by SMS: faster, more convenient, and more secure, with an audit trail of every action.

In one of VoteBoard’s modules, we got rid of the perennial “I forgot my password, please reset it again” problem and switched to sign-in with a one-time code sent by SMS. For a board of directors, this is a real sweet spot: convenient, fast, and with no password notes stuck under the keyboard 😅
Why this approach? Permanent passwords are a favorite phishing target, while an OTP has a short lifetime and significantly reduces the risk of interception. The user receives a code, confirms sign-in — and keeps working without unnecessary magic.
After authentication, we record all actions in an audit trail with second-level precision. This matters where the cost of a decision is high: you can always see who did what and when.
Against the backdrop of the passwordless trend and stricter security requirements, this approach is no longer a feature — it’s just standard engineering practice.
