A Virtual Economy Without Inflational Cringe
At LearnSpace, we designed a virtual economy: currency + achievements. We keep the balance with faucets and sinks so value doesn't collapse to zero and motivation doesn't depend only on numbers.

At LearnSpace, we designed a virtual economy: currency + achievements. And here it's just like in the real world and in Web3 hype cycles: if money flows too easily, its value drops to zero. If it's too hard to earn, users go: "well, maybe later".
What did we do? We found the balance through faucets and sinks. Faucets are where the currency comes from: learning, activity, progress. Sinks are where it goes: spending inside the system so the currency doesn't accumulate as dead weight.
We also added badges and achievements — this is no longer about money, but about non-monetary motivation. Sometimes a badge for the journey works better than another +10 coins. Like an achievement in a game or a green square on GitHub: useless, but very satisfying.
Result: the economy preserves value, and motivation isn't tied only to numbers.
