When the inspector went on vacation, but the construction site didn’t

In PDP, we implemented User Substitution — a mechanism for temporarily replacing an employee with transferred tasks and access rights. The scenario is very real: an inspector goes on vacation, but issues on the site keep coming in, like notifications after a Monday call.
What we built: for a limited period, the substitute employee gets the original user’s permissions and can work with their tasks without interrupting the process. But there is an important nuance: all actions are logged separately. So continuity is preserved, and transparency and auditability are not lost — which is especially important now, when traceability and access control are already must-haves, not something to “do later.”
For construction, this is critical: processes don’t stop, issues don’t sit there dead in the water, and the team doesn’t end up catching deadlines face-first.
In short, we made it so the business process doesn’t depend on a single person, but security doesn’t go on vacation with them 😎
