At PDP Mobile, we made push deep linking work without magic or the dreaded “why did this open the wrong screen?” We set up the route from push to the right screen for all scenarios: cold start, warm start, and foreground notification.
At PDP Mobile, we got push deep linking working without magic or the dreaded “why did this open the wrong screen?”. We set up the route push → right screen for all scenarios: cold start — the app was closed, warm start — it was running in the background, foreground notification — the user was already inside the app.
Under the hood, it’s built properly too: our FCM tokens go through symmetric encryption, we send pushes through Firebase Cloud Messaging, and Notifee handles custom rendering. We also built a notification center: history, read status — everything users and support teams like.
In practice, this is the classic case where a push about an order has to open that order, not just the home screen because “well, it’s almost there.” In the age of fighting for retention, these little things aren’t little anymore — UX matters.
