When the chairperson suddenly left the chat
In VoteBoard, we implemented dynamic role switching right during a meeting: if the chairperson can’t participate, another attendee can be assigned the `CHAIRMAN` role instead of `MEMBER` without manual workarounds.

In VoteBoard, we implemented dynamic role switching right within a meeting: if the chairperson can’t participate, another attendee can be assigned the CHAIRMAN role instead of MEMBER — as an acting chair, with no magic and no manual workarounds.
What matters: — there is only one chairperson at any given moment; — roles exist within the meeting itself, not “across the system” in general; — every change goes to the audit trail, so there’s no later round of “who switched this?”; — changing a role affects vote counting in the methods where the participant’s status matters.
In short, we built a mechanism that keeps the business logic honest: the process keeps moving, and the change history stays transparent. In an era when everyone talks about governance, traceability, and “systems should explain their decisions,” this kind of thing is no longer a nice-to-have — it’s table stakes.
