When one user has three roles at once, and it’s not a bug
In PDP, the same person can be an inspector, the person responsible for an observation, and a watcher at the same time. We made sure the notification is sent exactly once, with no duplicates or spam.

In PDP, we ran into a classic enterprise scenario: the same person can be an inspector, the person responsible for an observation, and a watcher at the same time. For the system, this is not just “three badges” — it means different access levels and different notification scenarios.
The main challenge was to avoid spamming the user when roles overlap. We made it so that the notification is sent exactly once, even if the person falls into several target groups at once. No duplicates, no chaos, no “why did I get this three times?”.
We use the same pattern when changing a participant’s role in Voting Board: the logic for overlaps and recalculating permissions has to work carefully and predictably. In the era of zero-trust and increasingly complex access models, cases like this are no longer edge cases — they’re the baseline.
