OIDC Without Drama: How We Connected WikiMind to Keycloak
We integrated OIDC in WikiMind through Keycloak with PKCE authorization, added proactive background token validation, and protected against duplicate checks under high load.

In WikiMind, we integrated OIDC through Keycloak with PKCE authorization — so login would be both secure and painless. But the more interesting part is what came next: we built proactive background token validation.
In other words, the system does not sit around like a student the night before a deadline waiting for a token to expire. It checks it in advance using the configurable validation_threshold and refresh_buffer, and under high load it also protects against duplicate OIDC validations.
And yes, for the classic case: the OIDC provider suddenly goes down. To keep everything from falling apart, we left the system able to work with cached tokens. Users do not notice the turbulence, and the team does not get paged at the worst possible moment.
Against the backdrop of the zero-trust trend and growing requirements for auth flows, this approach is no longer a “nice to have” — it is the baseline.
