MMKV instead of AsyncStorage: faster and safer
At PDP Mobile, we rebuilt local storage: we moved from AsyncStorage to MMKV. That gave us native encryption, faster access, and stable cart caching between sessions.

In PDP Mobile, we rebuilt local storage: we moved from AsyncStorage to MMKV. The reason is simple — when everyone is talking about privacy and on-device security in 2025, storing sensitive data “somehow” is no longer an option.
What we got:
• native encryption of data on the device
• noticeably faster access than AsyncStorage
• stable caching of the services cart between sessions
But there was a real-world nuance: the user closes the app, comes back later, and the service on the server has already changed — the price is different or the booking is no longer available. To avoid unpleasant surprises, we added cart validation on open: we check whether the services are still up to date before using the cache.
Result: the UX got faster, the data is safer, and the cart no longer lives in its own universe 😌
