LDAP Without the Pain: Syncing Groups and Collections in WikiMind
In WikiMind, we set up automatic synchronization of the org structure from LDAP: groups and collections are now created and assigned permissions automatically, and soft-deleted users are reactivated when they sign in again through OIDC.

In WikiMind, we finished the kind of work people usually only remember when they ask, “Why does the new employee still not have access?” 😅
We set up automatic synchronization of the org structure from LDAP: groups and document collections no longer live in the “created manually, forgotten manually” mode, but are tied together through external_id. This gives us automatic creation of entities and automatic permission assignment when the structure in LDAP changes.
Another important case: if a user was soft-deleted, then when they sign in again through OIDC, we reactivate them automatically. No duplicates, no “Ivanov Ivan (2)”, and no manual admin wizardry.
Against the backdrop of the ongoing identity-first security trend and centralized access, this is basically a must-have. Less routine work, less drift, fewer surprises on Monday morning ☕️
