At PDP, we improved plan handling by building interactive floor plans on canvas with Konva.js. It’s no longer just a picture from a chat with “send me the plan pls” — it’s a working tool: room outlines, issue markers, axes, annotations — everything is live and clickable.
What we built:
- load a floor plan image and mark it up directly in the interface;
- attach defects to specific points on the plan, without the magic of “somewhere by that wall”;
- supported a typical floor as a template: annotate it once, and it applies to all identical floors.
In practice, this removes manual duplicate work and reduces the chance of human “oops, wrong floor.” Against the backdrop of the broader move toward construction digitalization and proptech, this is no longer a nice-to-have — it’s the baseline.
Konva.js fit the job well: canvas stays fast, and the UX remains straightforward even without half a day of onboarding.
