How we assembled 10+ services in Docker Compose and didn’t go gray

At PDP Mobile, we brought up an entire mini zoo through Docker Compose: FastAPI, PostgreSQL, Redis, MinIO, Elasticsearch, Socket.IO, and a bunch more services. While the industry debates K8s and platform engineering, Compose still gets the job done where you need fast, transparent, and sane orchestration without the overhead.
We made the backend fully asynchronous: asyncpg + aiohttp + Taskiq. That gave us solid performance under load without the feeling that the server had “gone off to think”.
One especially nice part is the 48 business modules, and each has its own independent lifecycle. In other words, changes in one module don’t turn the release into a “what will break today?” lottery.
For production diagnostics, we hooked up Sentry: if something crashes, we don’t have to read tea leaves — we can quickly see where it happened.
In short: Compose is not “just for pet projects”, but a perfectly workable
