Comments That Don’t Drift When You Edit
At WikiMind, we built positional comments in ProseMirror: they’re anchored to exact text coordinates, recalculated as you edit, and don’t disappear even if the underlying text is deleted.

At WikiMind, we built positional comments in ProseMirror: each comment is anchored to exact character coordinates in the text. The interesting part starts when the document changes — positions are automatically recalculated with a debounce 500ms, so neither the editor nor the browser gets hammered.
If a piece of text is deleted, the comment doesn’t vanish into thin air: we detach it and set from=-1 and to=-1. The discussion thread, resolution, and emoji reactions all stay intact — because in real life, “what did you mean here?” tends to outlive the text itself 🙂
The other nice part: it all works correctly when multiple users are editing at the same time. In the era of collaborative AI editors and live docs, that’s no longer a nice-to-have — it’s the baseline.
